The Qualcomm company history begins with the seven employees of the company Linkabit under the leadership of Irwin Jacobs. In 1985, one of the founders - Andrew Viterbi, left engineering positions in the aerospace industry to start a cellular telephone company with his friend Antonio. The company was named Qualcomm, which would offer "Quality Communication". The two men raised $19 million in funding for the new venture, with $15 million coming from Morgan Stanley, $1 million from Western Wireless Corporation, and the rest coming from family and friends. These futurists developed CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access), which changed wireless communication forever. The CDMA became the basis for the worldwide 3G networks and defined the modern 4G and 5G technologies.
